Wael (Wail) Mohamed Aaminou is currently the Chairman of Al Maali Group, he oversees and leads advisory assignments in more than fourteen countries mostly in the MENA region. He particularly specializes on Fintech and on integrating sustainability into the business model of financial institutions. Before joining Al Maali in 2013, his consulting efforts focused primarily on finance, risk management and technology.

On the academic side, he lectured in a selection of leading British, French, Turkish and Moroccan institutions and contributed to several articles in international journals. His research covers modeling consumer behavior and sustainability financing. In 2016, he won the First Prize of the Best Agent-Based Simulation Application Award by the Islamic Development Bank.

Wael Mohamed Aaminou earned a Ph.D. in financial engineering from Ecole Mohammadia d’ingénieurs (Morocco), an MBA in Finance with Academic Excellence Award from Duke University (U.S.A.) on a Fulbright Scholarship, and an IT engineering degree from ENSIAS (Morocco). He is currently completing the Public Leadership Credential at Harvard Kennedy School (exp 2022).
